How to Access the Internet

1. Using a Web Browser

  • A web browser is a program you use to view websites. Common web browsers include:
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari (on macOS)

2. Opening the Browser

  • To open a browser, click the browser icon on your desktop or in your taskbar (Windows) or Dock (macOS).
  • Once open, you'll see a search bar where you can type the web address (URL) of the site you want to visit, like "www.google.com."

3. Connecting to Wi-Fi or Ethernet

  • To access the internet, you need to connect to a network. This can be a Wi-Fi (wireless) network or an ethernet (wired) connection.
  • Wi-Fi: Look for the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right (Windows) or top-right (macOS) corner, click it, and select a network to connect to.
  • Ethernet: Plug the Ethernet cable into your computer, and you'll automatically be connected.
